I'm Fed Up...Im out of answers

Thats why I was saying to possibly change 100% of the water and use the ammonia/nitrite absorbant pads in the filter if the ammonia/nitrite levels start to spike.

Just stop adding chemicals and doing as much water changes as your doing. As suggested in prior posts your tank crashed for whatever reason and now needs to be re-cycle. By continuing to clean the filters, adding chems etc. you are not making it any better.

As long as your fish are OK, i'd let things be and let nature take it's course.

I had the same problems as you with my 150g. I kept trying to fix things and the more I tried the worse it got. I finally gave up and after a couple weeks everything fixed itself.

I think you just have to be patient rather than reactive with the ammonia.

ammo lock will mess up some types of ammonia test kits. try a different type of test, maybe strips? your lfs should be able to help.

stop adding chemicals. your fish are trying to tell you your water is ok. also, don't rinse filter media with tap water, the chlorine can kill off the bacteria. best of luck.

try using a new test kit and compare results.

If his test kit is telling him he has zero ammonia in his tap water, then I would only assume the kit is working if it tells him he has ammonia in his tank.
