Im Getting a Cockatoo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A Cockatoo, a lovely and intelligent bird, is highly demaninding in terms of good husbandry.

Also, you must factor the noise it makes, if you live with people in the vicinity.

Sen a PM to Red Devil ( Lizz ) she has one

( I have had 2 Sulphur Crested )

They are incredibly jealous. My buddy had a beautiful cockatoo. She was a real swetheart. When his son was born and they could not give the bird the same level of attention, she ripped her chest feathers out and would frequently make herself bleed. Fortunately, he is a great pet owner and sent her to a bird sanctuary with the huge cage and all of the supplies. He sends money monthly for her care.

Thay really bond to their owners and sometimes attack other people if they get near their owners. I don't have any kids and I don't want any so that won't happen to me. Just my animals. Oh ya, they tend to be pluckers if something is wrong. I just hope mine doesn't. I also don't work due to health issues so I have lots of time for him/her.

huh i remember the time when i would have moved moutain for a sulfur crested , the pressure got even more intense when i started dated someone from down under ,,,i really never did get around owning one ,in a way its for the best ...
Enjoy the time when the passion and the desire keep you in awe .

Oh you wanted one!!!! I've wanted one my whole life. lol I just lived to close to neihghbors, they would not be pleased. But Eddie is all into it, she is coming over as soon as I get it.

they're noisy buggers, especially when they flock outside your place eating your macadamia nuts lol. literally 50+ cockatoos. will get pics next time it happens.

i can only begin imagine the noise a captive cockatoo would make when all his mates are outside talking.

They are EXTREMELY loud, ear piercing loud at times. But I don't even hear my animals anymore. My cousin slept over and was cracking up because he thought he was in the loony bin. :nilly:

Yes, they are very dusty. But I don't mind vaccuming every day, I do it down. I clean cages every other day.

:D I love cockatoos!

My mom used to keep sulfur crested cockatoos, and they're lovely.

Looking forward to pics!
