Ok i have a motoro ray in a 125 gallon tank and im running 2 emperor 400's. I want to build a wet/dry. I dont want to drill any holes in the tank so im guessing an overflow? I have been searching the forums and havent found what i need.
What do i do? Thanks
Tyler

If you want to go out and buy, the get a hang on back overflow. If you want to make one yourself, check out the DIY section for the DIY overflows.

You have a single ray in a 125 gal tank... and you think you need a wet/dry to process it's waste?

I would rather build one myself to meet specific needs and without breaking the bank.
Yes i do want a wet/dry for my ray. I want water parameters to be perfect and if i get it established maybe later i will add some middle or top fish as well. Thanks

What you have there will work. All you would need is some hose to move the water from the overflow to the sump and some hose to attach to the pump to pump the water back into the aquarium.

Are you planning on getting rid of the two HOBs?

Adding a filter whose only function is to convert ammonia into nitrates in this case just doesn't make sense to me... it's a very light bioload and just about any filter would easily be able to process this bioload.

If "perfect" water parameters is your goal and you are willing to plumb your tank for a sump, then put in a refugium. A Wet/Dry converts ammonia to nitrates then leaves you to deal with nitrates... a refugium converts ammonia to nitrogen gas which just goes away...

I truly believe you have been mislead to some key details regarding the importance of different types of filtration...
