How hard is it to make an algae scrubber? So you would use both the wet dry and the algae scrubber? How often would i need to do water changes? Thanks
Tyler
well "hard" is in the eye of the beholder, how good are you at diy? I think the pvc overflow would be easier, and you could fill the sump with some sort of plant that takes in nutrients from the water like java moss hornwort etc.. the cool thing about sumps are you can make them very inexpensively and can customize them easily.
Ok i have a motoro ray in a 125 gallon tank and im running 2 emperor 400's. I want to build a wet/dry. I dont want to drill any holes in the tank so im guessing an overflow? I have been searching the forums and havent found what i need. What do i do? Thanks
Tyler
My suggestion would be , do nothing.
Leave your tank as it is.
Heresy to the sump/grail group I know.
The potential worm can you are trying to open, once open can lead to an amount of grief and check book suction few other projects can generate.
You have a pair of easily maintained, quality filters now. With the bio wheels, you already have wet/dry action going on.
You want some DIY action, search out all the Emp mods that are available. Most are quite easy to do and a few do add to the effectiveness of a pretty decent filter.
After you have got all the performance out of what you have and still want More Power there are quite a few routes you can take, other than a sump.
