im going saltwater :)

yeah thx im really excited about it, it wil probably be up and running in 3-4 weeks so that will give me lots of time to research and my dad knows quite a few friends who do saltwater so ill be able to get some supplys off them. wow i cant beleive it im 13 and im going to have my own saltwater tank :) oh and trust me i will put up lots of pics :)

anyways it important to use alot of natural filtration along with (personal preference) RODI water

just read up on 'clean up crews', cycleing a s/w tank, type of rock to buy, lighting, type of salt, test kits.........

RELAX Dude :chillpill:.
I've done salt.
Had a small reef in a 29 gal and a fish only tank.
It is a bit more work but very enjoyable.

If you're going the reef direction watch out for the summer heat.
otherwise, enjoy.

Let him enjoy it, it is exciting! I wish my parents would have let me have a saltwater tank when I was younger.
 
Congrats! I've had a saltwater tank for about a week and a half... I've learned two things:
1) The guys on this forum are lifesavers (literally in the case of my ocellaris)
2) Take your sweet ass time!

i have been doing salt water for oh i dont know since i was 15, and im now 22 so like 7 years. so i know some stuff.....

but i was a borders (book store) with my girlfriend she was looking for a book, i was bored` so i was walking around i found an "aquatic life" section

Found a really informative book called
"Marine Reef Aquarium Handbook" 'second edtion', by: Robert J. Goldstein, PH.D.


even being in the hobby for a long time there's still a ton of information in this book that is super helpful that i can refrance for my self or help others with.......

starting new to the hobby i highly recommend it!

Goldstein was a good authority.

That being said dude, you still need to chill out.

You also need to remember that there is no one right way to do this. Whatever works for the hobbyist that leads to the thriving of their animals is what works for that hobbyist.
 
I think since it's my first saltwater tank it's going to be a fowlr tank. I will probably be getting a bigger tank next year because it's going to be my birthday and christmas so my list will probably be 150 gal tank setup for saltwater lol ...... Any ways thx for all your advice I pretty much spend my whole day researching lol
 
SALTS THE WAY TO GO MAN! =D what are you thinking for the stock? groupers are always a great choice!

the first two get a bit too big and the last one would get almost as big as the tank, but a V-tail, Blue line, or possibly an Argus could work!
