My wife and I just had out first (12 weeks now) I only have 3 tanks running now but I'm still trimming it down to 1. Skiping all the multiple tank maintenance and setting up what I would consider a glass pond.

Sounds like the perfect time, if your already finishing the basement anyways.

Congratulations!! Children are wonderful I agree with doing minimal tanks in the beginning, but as the kids get older you can have more tanks. Ive got a 4yr old and 16 month old twins(all boys!). I still have six tanks running lol! I only had 2 small tanks running when the twins were small and just recently set up the others. You'll find what works for you. Congratulations again, having a baby is awesome!
