I bought 5 snails about 4 month ago and they keep dying! So i've bought nothing new and tested my water all fine, all the usuall stuff. i've had this tank 3-4 years established no problems so was confused :(

however, yesterday I saw my LAST snail had tipped over and was trying to right himself, so I was watching to see if he could before I get involved with my trusty chopstick! lol

This HUGE bristle worm appeared! I pooped myself as to how big it was, I dont mind the little ones as they keep the rocks clean but this one was about to attck and kill my snail, so I went and got my chopstick and corrected the snail and off it toddled.

So now amma catch me a worm! i've got my trap set ( plastic container, small hole, sand bottom, tasty treat ) soooo we'll see what I catch! :naughty:

Aww, yer not going to kill it, are you?

Ok, so some things were meant to die. You could get an arrow crab to keep the bristle worm population in check. I've had some large bristle worms (about six inches) but I haven't seen any big ones like that lately.

Bastards. I used to work in fish store when I was 15 (my first job) and Turns out I'm allergic to these worms stings. It goes away after like a few hours. but just beware if you never been stung by their bristles before that other people have had annoying reactions to their stings.

good luck with the hunt. they have exelent sense of smell so you may be able to actually coax it into a net with some food in there.

lol I'd love an arrow crab but well I don't know 100% that they would eat the worm plus I would worry as the arrow got bigger it would go for my snails which i'm trying to save in the first place!

The bugger got the shrimp i left as bait and took it lol Trying again tonight with a longer pot and smaller hole!

the plot thickens
