i was just giving input to the thread.

Yes but please ask yourself: "is this I'm writing productive ?" or "is this I'm writing merely to write it ? "... Nothing against you... it is just rather redundant for several posts to say the same thing without a great deal of purpose or reasoning behind it...

Thanks Neil for noticing I was not really picking on you but just bringing up a point that if we all followed just a small bit, would let us reduce the Chaff from the valuable info that can be contributed...

not really...i have several that are just not very marked (although i do think this fish will darken a bit). that is exactly why we say not to ID based on pattern.

oh yeah...Florida/Spotted gar!:grinno:

so have i, but ive noticed that most gars in lfs look that way, and get much more coloured and marked once brought home into tanks with darker substrate, or actually any substrate at all(excluding white). i think it's the bare tanks that cause the colouration...maybe it'll stay the same but you're probably right in saying it'll darken up.

i agree it will darken, BUT i dont think this fish is going to be as marked as some of them. i dont really think the color has too much to do with substrate, but more of the overall poor diet/conditions they are kept in...not to mention the stress from being moved. give it a few days to start showing its true colors.
