Thanks. Nope, that's the only one they had. It was at Aqua Imports in the tank w/ that Ornate

I'm not sure what you're referring to. There is only one bichir in any of my pix. I don't have an endli in there...yet (will tomorrow, as well as a weeksii) but there is an ornate in there right now.

ya, i was surprised. they didn't have many more FW fish there than last time, but they got a shipment of SW fish when I picked up the gar. I know I paid too much, but it was $70. It's actually more like 10 inches as I used a bigger net than I thought.

last night, it ate some sinking pellets :headbang2

It actually snagged up some pieces of shrimp as they were sinking, too as it only ate from the bottom before. Hopefully, it will start eating from the top, too.

I am still waiting for an email back about the legality of fish on the restricted list in aquaria. I sent the question to the Hearing Examiner for CDOW and he forwarded it to someone I don't know in law enforcement at the Department of Natural Resources. As you already know, the permits person for the Division said my florida/spotted was legal for me to keep, so I'm going to keep it. However, if I receive a different answer from the law enforcement side and it turns out to be illegal, I will get rid of it somehow and work on getting a Tropical Gar.

odds are if the FL/Spotted is illegal, then all true gar species will indeed be illegal. where do you live? sorry if i overlooked it.

I live in Colorado. One law says all fish (minus federally listed ones) are legal in private aquaria, but the other says all subtropical and tropical fish are exempt from the restricted aquatic species list, which according to the definition, would leave Cuban and Tropical Gars legal, while making all other Lepisosteids illegal (see the thread entitled "is there another...").

ya, i would, too

thanks :)

we already got a "yes, it's legal" from the person in charge of issuing permits for that sort of thing, but not a "yes" from law enforcement :nilly:
