im i too worried

DO NOT ADD AQUARIUM SALT! what is your temp currently at? if its lower then 86- 87 it will make your fish slow, not hungry and not as active

Thats very good ..then maybe he just ate too much and needs some fasting time.. and good with the salt and temp for now.. he may be back to normal tommorrow.. wish you luck he is!
 
i just did a w/c and added some aquarium salt.i dont know how fast the salt works but he has started to swim around more, and his gasping has slowed down. im still worried about him tho. and im happy i asked about this, i just thought it was normal for them to slow down eating as they got bigger.

wish i would of read this before i did, will it cause harm. my temp is at 85 right now, i did turn the heater up tho.

this started about a week and a half ago. somedays he eats and some days he dosnt even bother.

Aquarium salt will just relieve stress and make him relax.. which is good if he is having problems,..

when fish do this i always have to think they are piggys.. and then have stomach ache so i would feed him a little less each feeding and see if he gets back regular to eating every day..

the temp seems to be high enough.. are you always on 85 ? Fish do get a little sluggish if normal temps suddenly get high..
 
ive been at 85 since i got him. he is in a 55 now, im getting a 240 in a few weeks for him and my other fish. i have a few other cichlids in with him and none of the cichlids have any problems.

I would not raise temp up any higher.. i would leave it the way they are use too.. i bet he will be fine.. i really think he over ate..
