I have always liked fish and keeping, although after 5 years straight Im really losing my passion for it. Maybe its because the fun of it is the challenge; something I dont have at the moment. Everything is running smoothly, but too perfect to add any excitement. May sound strange to many of you, but I actually look back at the issues I have faced and remember that to be the most memorable parts of fishkeeping. Stopping my arowana jumping out across the room, several times...once even onto someones head :grinno:. And cleaning out the tank with an extremely angry pair of dovii squaring up, headshaking and biting me. Getting the water quality spot on, and treating diseases. Building a new light unit after the dovii smashed the old one up.

Now theres nothing to do, other than feed them and change the water once a week. Its been like this for the last 6 months! Too easy, too dull. I need a new challenge. And I'm taking requests/suggestions.

Let me know your ideas and if you too have faced these feelings.

Have you thought about a new tank/new style? Try Salt Water or a Planted Tank. I was in the same boat, but I actually went smaller and started doing Planted Nanos. It keeps me entertained;)

I have thought about changing what I keep, but saltwater is out of the question at the moment as moneys tight as it is. What size did you downgrade to and from?

ever look into stingrays? they are my favorite fish and u might get a kick out of hand feeding

My tanks only 5x2x2, so not great for stings unfortunately. I can imagine you have a lot of fun feeding them!

maybe just scale back a little. use this time for other things . hopefully the passion will come back, or you'll find another must have fish, good luck.
