Sounds to me your cousin is jealous and envious of your success, happiness and joy you have with your fish and he does not. So because he was not happy with his own fish keeping practices, he wanted to destroy your fish which brought you much happiness and joy. Additionally, if he does not want to assume some responsibility for what has happened, I would:

1) Approach your parents with the situation, have then speak to your uncle and aunt and see if they will be able to work it out somehow.

2) Dis-own your cousin and find a better friend. His actions and lack of assuming any responsibility are deliberate and totally uncalled for.

3) Do nothing and chalk everything up as experience and go on with your aquatic endeavors as you plan on doing.

So maybe this will give you something to think about, and hopefully give you some ideas on what to do. I hope this helps with your decissions, but I know it hardly ever replaces a loss. I'm really sorry to hear you lost your Aro and BowFin.
thanks

and we are a little old to be going to our parents lol.

Depending how close your family is, not neccisarily. My Cousins are all well into our 20's and have taken matters to our "elders". Hindsight is 20/20...

1. When the Oscar killed the first fish he should have been removed. Don't take this wrong, but leaving a killer in your tank. Is not being a good fishkeeper. Common sense should have been used as well as what more then a few first advised you. You sound knowledgeable, just unsure. Doubt yourself less and you'll have better luck in the future.

2. Your cousins being a jerk to you, and showing no care for his own fish. I doubt he cared to begin with. And couldn't find anyone to take his Oscar, which is why he predated on you. If one of my family acted in such a matter.. All of my family would know.. and my male cousins would "fix his issue"... If your family isn't like mine. I'de tell him where to go, and stop the relationship.

3. If you can't find a good Home for the Oscar, or Decide to keep it. The other option is to humanely dispose of it. Quality of life is just as important as life itself. Some will argue this. You may as well.

i did move the oscar after he killed the first time. but the main reason i figured was territorial aggresion. not just killing to kill.

and with the family, ya thats how we are to but what i mean is this isnt an important thing to our parents. they wouldnt be able to understand and ill just get a stupid look and be asked why i would spend so much on fish lol.
