Ok, first off im new to this forum, it seemed the most amusing and helpful whilst browsing the past week or so. Ok so im getting to my point. I just recently got a 55 Gallon tank for a steal on craigslist with a bunch of decorations a heater some bubble maker thing and a dual filter for 100$ and it even came with fish Im not sure what they are but one is pretty big and they gave me a paper on it but I lost it I beleive it said from south america but its not an agressive fish. its about 6 Inches in length and has black and gold stripes going up and down and has kind of a point nose. There are 5 other little fish, from what I have read 2 of them are a type of "cory" an theres a pleco not sure what kind estimated size 3 inches. Im planning on trying to get rid of them at a Pet Store. except for the pleco.

They arent my Ideal Fish. I bought the tank planning to get more of an agressive fish type I first wanted an oscar but read alot about 55 gallons is Hardly enough room for just one so I scrached that because I want more then 1 fish. I thought about getting 1 Green Terror and 2 convicts but, recently I have been browsin and changed my mind. I definatly want Convicts, But im worried i'll end getting a breeding pair and I want just more then 2 of them. And I also want another chichlid type tankmate like a firemouth, or JD. Sorry for the essay, Im just trying to write everything down before I get questions.

Now im open for opinions as in to what fish to put together and what kind of fish and numbers for the tank size. But I really only want chichlids..

Thanks I look forward to some repplies. :)

Huh dunno about the mystery fish but what I suggest you should do and this is really worth it is look up all the local fish stores(LFS) that you can go to and check out what they have in stock. I prolly would've saved a couple bucks if I had done this. Check out the fish, write their names down, go home do a little research on em and pick what you'd like the most! Welcome to MFK by the way!

Thanks for the wlcome, Ive already researched a good bit the past 2 or 3 weeks or so. I went to 3 dfiferent pet stores, Ive seen
red devils ( I heard they are real hard to keep with other fish)
Oscars (too big for my tank)
convicts (I definatly want these)
Firemouths(heard they are good with convicts but thats why I came here for answers)
Jack Dempseys ( not sure on these saw a couple different opinions on keeping these with convicts)

Im going to a big fish store tommorow about 40 minutes away to look around thats why Im trying to get some good suggestions on what to keep with convicts and how many of each fish to get etc..because im going to see if they will take my current fish and I want to purchase new ones.
