i was thinkin 2-4 but I read so much about them pairing and gettin super agressive when matingand wil kill off oher convicts and any other fish.but some say if the tank is big enough they wont bother and im not sure if a 55 gallon is enough room for up to 4 convicts and mybe 2 other chichlids around the same size. and that why I decided not to go with the green terror because thy can get pretty big. I wanna be able to get another fish type hat can hold its own. or 1 more of one kind and one more of another.

You'll be alright with 6. Start stocking your tank slowly though with just the con's to see how they do together, this will also to help prevent the spend of fish dieseases if the ones you buy have em, stress and sudden spikes in your tank's levels that it keep up with..
If it were me I would have a male convict (they get bigger and I think look great), a firemouth, and a female GT as a centerpiece. You'll find conflicting opinions, but I think a female GT can work well in a 55 for life.
I originally wanted a green terror to go along with a convict, but I Read alot that they get kinda big, but like you said that can cause conflict in opinion. I love these Ideas.Thanks guys.
