ive been a fish admirer for quite some time now and i dont have anything setup yet and since it is close to christmas i think now would be a good time to ask. i would like to get a larger than average and more predatory fish and i was looking for suggestions. Also tank sizes and filtration system recommendations would be nice aswell! thank you for the help!

Welcome aboard!
Predatory fish come in various sizes. What species have you seen that you liked?

Minimum tank size depends on what fish you want to keep, so best thing is to ask yourself (and tell the people here) what fish you like, how much room you got and what budget.

Theres some things others cant decide for you haha, anyways you should get some great help here, as did i when i joined not too long ago

ive really been fascinated with either armored or aggressive fish. Gar or tigerfish for example. my Uncle owned a snakehead so that might be worth considering. ive also always loved catfish and sturgeon simply because i like how their faces kinda look like they are confused 90% of the time!

Do you have a rough estimate of what size tank you’ll wind up with?
I’ll always point to the red wolf fish (erythrinus erythrinus) for a good monster with a modest size. They will eat anything that touches the water, are quite forgiving to a range of parameters, and stay small enough where a 3 foot tank would be sufficient.

i dont really know the size of the tank especially because i highly doubt my relatives would buy me a tank thats as expensive as a playstation not that i blame them. ive checked a bit and i found a 75 gallon tank for $175 would that be sufficient if i get permission?

75 is more than enough for one. A 40B is considered a good minimum - I had one in a 36 gallon and it did fine.
75 is a good size for a a lot of fish, especially smaller cichlid pairs.
