At first glance I thought the same as fishfreak, that they look more like some kind of malawi peacock or hap, but they're not.
They are albino Thorichthys sp.
They're not any species of Geophagus. They are not A. heckellii.

That's what I thought as well. Didn't want to sound crazy though. Heh.

:eek:WTF i thought the same......just cba posting:grinno: could be a stressed mixteco gold or an albino mixteco blue.

It's a little young yet to tell if it's an albino 'mixteco blue' or an albino aureus, these are the only true albino thorichthys I believe at the moment. I wonder what Rapps has been selling recently ?

Not so sure.

Look at the anal and pelvic fins, very Heckelii like. I agree that the body doesn't look like a Heckelii but I can't even tell the size of the fish from the photo, about an inch? Eartheaters bodies change so much over time from very long and elongated to very rectangular (minus Satanoperca).

Red dorsal lining, speck in the anal fin, bottom lining of the anal fin, and linings of the pectoral fins all suggest it's an A. heckelii to me.

Body does not, complete lack of any black facial or body markings also does not.

That's the same fish, red dorsal lining is hardly visible in my photos, and doesn't becoming more prominent until extended streamers begin growing.

Photos are of what I believe is a male A. heckelii at around the 3" mark.

Earlier in the thread I said it was an A. heckelii, a few things point to this, but I honestly don't know what it is as the only Thorichthys we have over here that's common is the Firemouth so I never really bothered doing any research on them. Time will tell, but it looks Albino to me, Albino what I couldn't tell you.

japes, you indeed have A. heckellii. I've had them myself before. ;)
OP's albino fish is Thorichthys sp.
