Hello, I'm not asking if snakeheads are banned in the U.S. (I know they are), I was just wondering: can you keep them if you get a license or something?
They're really cool, but I live in boring old Nebraska, which, unfortunetally, is in the U.S., and I really want one of the smaller species.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
GobyMaster

Not going to happen.

They arent really banned in the USA but you cant import any more of them and you cant cross state lines, but there are several states that they are still legal.

yeah, but you must kill it at the pond, lake or river you cough it at. if you transport it anywhere, you'll still get in trouble fro "transporting live fish"
only way you can have a snake head, is 1)if it was breed in a private pond, and it's your pond. weired loop hole.

Snakehead's can really harm our eco system, so it is a good thing they are banned and it's banned only because people who had them as pets once before trew them into fishing lakes after it outgrew "johns" or "cindys" 10 gallon aquarium that they picked up for sale at a local walmart or garage sale. For now if you want to see feeders getting gulped and stuff; just buy your self piranhas

Why not try and find a Bowfin that's the closet thing to a Channa you'll find in
the states now.

They're banned in the UK:(

They are federally banned in the US from obtaining, transporting, owning, and selling. WITH THE EXCEPTION of several tropical dwarf species being allowed in Maryland. And these are legal ONLY if already in the state since transporting any SH species across state lines is illegal.
