As of a couple of months ago I was thinking I might be able to go but I'm in the process of moving so.....ya. I'm not excited for this coming weekend cuz I'm moving my last 3 biggest tanks (55, 60 and 150). Maybe next year! I've never been to Florida so that would be exciting in itself!

I will be there but some are feeling the recession that our government lie and say is over.

I really want to attend, seeing as how I am a CCA member and am local to the convention. The two jobs I had lined up for the summer are no longer options (one job was not funded by the state, the other job is going out of business), leaving me more than a little strapped for cash. If it is at all feasible for me to attend, I will do so.

It's free to attend...just not see speakers and a few other activities. Hope to see you there!

As an aside, registration for the convention provides a one year membership to both the ACA (online) and CCA :)

Two airfare tickets - $950. Four nights in a hotel - $400. Food for two for four days - $250 Random expenses - $200. We'd be looking at almost $2,000 for a 4 day trip. Like I said, when it gets even remotely close to the Pacific Northwest I'll be there.

I'm with you on travel costs. I couldn't justify going to Milwaukee last year.

What we've seen - at least based on the number of room nights booked through the conference hotel - is that folks are coming early and staying late for this year's convention.

DC - unlike most ACA host cities - is a legit vacation destination...and our conference hotel is just a few Metro stops from all of the DC sites (Smithsonian, National Zoo, Spy Museum, etc.).

Lots of folks come to DC without the incentive of a fish convention :)

I have been to two and only been able to hang out for a day. Would love to chill out with some of the peeps. I have breifly seen Mo, ben able to meet Rapps in person, and hang out with fish geeks that I am unsureare still in the hobby. Definently worth being there if you can make it. I will be in Cali, Colorado, and Oklahoma with family durring that time if I am permited leave. And if they know whats good for them, I will get that leave.:irked:

I guess that goes under the "other" category: other stuff going on at the same time... Maybe next year!

Something that I'm trying to get a feel for is what level of travel / travel expense is acceptable / not acceptable to attend something like this.

In other words, for the people who responded that they're not going because of geography (travel expense), is there ANY level of travel expense that would be acceptable... or is it not in the cards unless it's in your hometown?

Thanks,
Matt
