good to know, but why no cooked? Is it just because some nutrition is lost?

Cooked shrimp lost some of it's nutritional value and also you never know what they add to that cooked shrimp. They also like raw than cooked.

Alright. I'm feeding a wide variety of things trying to get him growing, but I don't see him eat, I imagine he's doing most of that at night. He's getting bloodworms, two kinds of flake, busted up massivore and that sort of thing. Also, I add guppies that I've bred myself, but I'm pretty sure they get eaten by others before they get near him. He swims around a lot and seems generally happy, so I'm not overly concerned so far.

Just let it get use to your tank or starve it for a week. Once it gotten use to the tank and hungry, it will come out every time you drop some foods. Even with lights on.
