Before I started writing the story, I asked two fish biologists with nearly
60 years of experience between them if the specimen in question was a
pirahna.
They both agreed. I asked them if the fish could be a pacu--yes, I did look
it up first--and was told that the fish was a pirahna.

I talked to seven scientists to make sure we get it right this time. (We
have had instances where the correction was wrong and we had to correct
that, too)
Two scientists wouldn't be quoted, two refused to do an ID by photo, but
three--including the guy in the Amazon--confirmed that it was a pacu.
We make mistakes. Believe me, I don't set out to make mistakes, which is
why I asked two biologists with whom I have worked before.
I don't mind doing the work to make things right. I just wish people could
be civil. Some of the discussion boards are like lynch mobs. Glad those
folks never make mistakes.

WOW, I wish I saw this in time to get in on it, I can actually say I'm proud of all the people on MFK (especially Wes) that chose to take the proper action for what they thought was right, great job and thanks to everyone , this is honestly the first time I have ever seen any results from something like this!! recieved a new e-mail about 2 mins. ago


"The corrected new story was promoted on the top of Page One of today's Sun
and the story itself ran on the top of the front page of sports, which is
the department in which I work.
