I have been talking to the guy who runs the aquariums at cabelas in Buda texas. He told me that he is trying to make the smaller aquarium of the 2 into a tropical tank for people to enjoy. Well i have decided to give him majority of my fish in order to help him get started. I have always been an advocate of the belief that fish should be in the best home possible, regardless of who it is with. So now I am sad to not have them anymore but i am happy that they will be taken care of. Cabelas has more time and money than I can provide for them so it is for the best.

I have already taken them...
2 24" rtc x tsn hybrids
1 22" tsn
1 30" silver arowana
and my beloved 30" niger cat

I still am going to take them...
1 13" mono peacock bass
1 19" clown knife
1 24" clown knife
2 24" pacu
1 24" jardini arowana
1 16" marbled pim
1 13" marbled pim

And, this also opens up more possibilities for you.

Think of all the new things you can keep now.

Well Im going to hold off on getting anything else for a while. One of the reasons why I also wanted to give them to him was because Im having a hard time controlling the heat of the tank. It is in the garage and with our 100 degree days we have been having the tank is at 90 F. I am afraid that when it gets hotter and we hit 105 or even 110 the tank might hit 95 or 100F. That would then kill them if it got that hot. The only solution I have is to buy a chiller and I don't have enough money at the moment to buy one to chill a 700 gallon.

if i had the chance to do that idk if i could because im so attached to my fish even though it would be the right thing to do so i think you are a good guy for doing it though

Awww Derek, sorry man... but you totally did the right thing, it's so hard though.... :( These 100+degree days suck really bad at times... but I crave that heat when it's gone... anyway good for you!

My hats off to you man .... your doing the right thing.

Run the chilled water form your refrigerator (if equipped, the hose is usually at the bottom of the freezer door) run that to R/O system and then to your automatic top off or use an aqua lifter. should keep it down temporary. I think I saw a thread about a guy who ran a splitter from his washing machine lines to R/O to automatic top off. Why not use refrigerated water to cool it down?

just my .02
