Could've been stress, but I don't think I've lost a single fish due to stress of being bagged up and taken home.

Not really pissed about losing the money ($50), just that it was a waste of a NICE fish.

everyone saying it was in the bag too long - fish do regularly get shipped overnight and the majority survive 
They are in the bag for sometimes 18/24 hours.
So 6.5 hours is not exactly too long to be in the bag.

That may be true, but there are many factors that can cause problems. Such as did they use pure oxygen, the oxygen tank was low, temperature, terrain- fish bouncing in the back of a lowered car for 6.5hrs, etc. I can go on and on. A healthy peakock bass should have made it with no problems so something must have caused it to die. So basically what your saying is that it died of a heart attack, because there could be no other explanation if all the other factors were ok. Fish don't die for no reason.
