I'm so stupid...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had estes gravel with my rays for almost a year. Looked similar to what you pictured but mine was black and white. Never had a problem until I brought a ray in that gave a bacterial problem to all my others. No I am bare bottom and wouldn't have it any other way. So nice to not vacuum gravel. I am eventually going to tile the bottom once I find some tile I like.

The xingu and many other rivers in SA are a mix between sharp rocks and sand.

Your ray should be just fine. ;)

Thanks so I'll first test my ray with the gravel and if any problems and change. If he?she gets scartchers there belly will be red right?

just change to black sand, looks the best and with a black background the colors will probably darken and look much better than that blue gravel, why even risk scratches on the ray?, black sand for sure make sure whatever sand you get(if you choose sand) that you wash very well many times until the water coming out when you drain it is clear everytime, did that with mine and it settled in my tank within 1hour and turn ur filter off when adding and once settled back on, never gets in filter+easier to clean the tank

there ya go just make sure u wash it many times, try using smaller buckets with less sand and cleaning smaller amounts rather than one big bucket with all the sand, takes less time to wash
