Just lost my new 10cm Leichardti... I was trying to get my hands on one for so long and i finally got one... I only had it for 2 weeks. I thought it would be fine with a FH smaller than it... was fine for a week... then just out of the blue... which was today.. saw my lei at the bottom of the tank laying their lifeless... I don't know how people have been lucky to keep aro's with fh... I feel very unlucky.. but at the same time very stupid... but i've finally learned my lesson...

this was my beauty...

If that's the flowerhorn behind the picture, it is not even smaller than the lei....

It's always a good recommendation to keep small arowana by themselves until 5-6" long. Do not mix arowana with large cichlids until the aro is 10-11" long and the aro should be 2x the length of the cichlid.

Sorry for your loss.

look at the picture, the flowerhorn doesn't seem smaller than the lei, plus yes that is bad mix between them. sorry for the lost thou.

wow nice lei and sorry for the loss

thanks everyone for the nice words.

I know it doesn't look smaller but the Lei had a good 2.5inch bigger than the FH, I know its not much, but it actually wasn't the Lei I was concerned about at the time, I had the dumb impression as long as the lei was larger it would be more dominant.. I know I was wrong.
And the most annoying part is that the fh was only suppose to be in in the tank temporarily, cause I was about to give it away, so i pulled it out of my main comm tank so it wouldn't be a hassle later to catch. It was a big loss to me... thanks again everyone
