I'm think of starting an aquarium

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you dont want to know what i started off with in a 2g  it was horible. i quickly went to a 10...then a 20g.... then a 29g...and well 12 tanks later i have everything from guppy tank to a 125g monster tank

I started out with a 10, than a 55, than a 135, and than a 210. My next tank will be a 360. Pretty much get something small like I did when I first began getting into fishes, than upgrade if you feel comfortable with all the maintenance of having a aquarium.

to the OP are there any fish youve already seen that u like? we can start by there.

Bigger is always better. My reasoning for that is because your just starting out so a larger tank will be able to handle parameter changes better then a smaller tank. Bigger tanks are more forgiving incase you slip up
I agree. People normally start out with something like a 2.5 gallon thinking "that small of a tank must be easy to care for." It's actually the exact opposite. I wouldn't start off with anything smaller than a 29-55 gallon...and if you're going to get the 4' 55 gallon, might as well go for a 75 or 90 that is also 4'...

i often have problems setting up smaller tanks. there always mystery deaths and parameters are everywhere one day and fine the next. its crazy. my 29+ tanks ive never had spikes or anything like that they are super stable. if u can and have the means get the monster from the get go.

It's not that hard to figure out what size tank you can afford of what type of fish you want. Come back to us with one of the above pieces of information, and we can make recommendations based on that. Knowing nothing about your preferences, we are unable to make educated suggestions. We could suggest a 80,000g shark tank. We could also suggest a bathtub with a "toaster-fish." Our suggestions will encompass a range of interests, none of which may match yours.
