Trying to do a paper on endangered species. Right now my species is the gray wolf, what other animals would you recommend that have a big impact on both the environment and to human societies? Any good sources on gray wolves impact on human societies?

umm polar bears are going extinct with the increasing of global warming caused by humanity's lack of conservation skills.. if that helps, you could reverse the question ..its not really the animals having an impact on the environment or people its the people impacting the environment and the animals..

hope that helps :)

yeah...i was a lil confused, i would think it'd be the other way around (our impact on animals as oppose to the endangered animal's impact on us). i wouldn't think they'd have a huge impact on us if they're endangered. perhaps an example?

polar bears are good.

oh and carly, ur the exact person my sig is aimed twords...........

You should be able to find out some stuff about gray wolfs on the michigan DNR site heres the link http://michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10370_12145_12205-32569--,00.html

Thank you

The paper has to be on why we need to save the animal, thus what negative effects does the animal going extinct have on human societies. For example if salmon was endangered and went extinct, fisherman would lose money, and the fish markets would lose money, and this would have a negative impact on our economy.

Human's impact the animals and the animals impact us as well. Our impacts is what causing the animals to become endangered. Question is what animal that is endangered and thus its dwindling numbers having a negative impact on human society?

For example if salmon was endangered and went extinct, fisherman would lose money, and the fish markets would lose money, and this would have a negative impact on our economy. So the endangered and small numbers of the salmons would cause a negative imapct on the economy. See what I'm trying to say?

Polar bears are cute...but what negative impacts does them being endangered have on human society?

Anyone have any negative impacts by the gray wolf being endangered? So far only one I can think of is overpopulation of deers and other preys, thus causing grazing grounds for cattle to get less.

wouldn't fishermen just fish other fish therefor having an impact on a different fish species and not so much humans?

Well I guess a fisherman could just fish other fish, but wouldn't that mean that the fisherman would have to go a further distance to fish for other fish? Thus using more gas money, and thus losing money. Not to mention what if there is no other edible fish in the body of water where the fisherman use to fish? Remember that episode of The Simpsons when the yum- yum fish was overfish?

The Simpsons- The Wife Aquatic

After watching Patty and Selma's old home movies of a trip to Barnacle Bay in New England during a town-wide outdoor movie night, Marge pines for the excitement she had in her youth. Moved by his wife's depression, Homer organizes a surprise trip to the island. However, on the family's arrival, Marge's hopes to relive her youth are dashed as Barnacle Bay has been devastated by overfishing of the Yum Yum Fish, the island's main attraction.

i think you'd need something where there's a more direct impact. impact of animal X allows animal Y to expand it's territory and alters the biodiversity in the area which thus impacts humans.

isn't that what happens with grey wolves?

Not really endangered, but maybe you could put a spin on collony collapse disorder (CCD) recently seen in bees? The effects of disappearing bees is would be more devastating than any other animal IMO.
