ive had my pond for a couple of years now and i have noticed that there is a lot of silt settled in the bottom of it...should i leave it in there?? take it out?? take just some of it out?? thanks in advance for all ur help

ahhh,... the common **** in the bottom of the pond..

depends, you've had it set up for years, and you only see the stuff now? :P

I would leave it, it doesn't hurt, you can also vaccume it out :P

i dont think it affects anything ... i have a heap in mine, my frogs are living okay, doesn't bother them, and they are frogs!

As long as the whole pond isn't like filled I would leave it. The fish and other animals probably love to hide and play in it. It will also help if you want to raise baby fish.

As long as you nitrate levels are not bad than I would leave it.

If you don't like the looks of it then remove it. It won't hurt anything if you remove it. As long as your fish are doing ok though u can leave it.

Ya I know lol. My pond also has a layer of sh*t on the bottom like 2-3" thick. Its disgusting...when I try to scoop it out the smell overwhelms me...at least it hasnt been doing damage to my fish except for a few that we lost earlier this year. I need to work on taking it out but first I think I need to buy a gasmask! lol
