Impossible water parameters?

Well if you were showing nitrates before you left for vacation and now you are not showing any I would say something isn't testing right. How did you clean the tank before you left for vacation? Did you do a very big water change expecting to have high nitrates when you returned?

I did do a very big water change. Even still, you would think there would be at least some nitrates a month later?
 
What were your nitrates reading before you left? If you did a BIG water change, and then your feeder was feeding less than you would normally, your fish will produce less waste and your reading would probably be less. A reading of 0 is actually good, it's what we all wish we could get ours down to.

Algae. Stir up your gravel, see if it gets cloudy.


WOW! yeah lots of algae. In fact the back glass is so covered by it that its hard to see through. Its blends into the background therefor I never saw it before.
