This morning i brought 2 of my larger Red Hook Silverdollars back to my local LFS,they had gotten huge and 1 had already jumped out of my tank due to 1 of my Pikes. So anyways he offered me store credit, well i wanted a new fish anyways so...i walked thru the Gar section and low and behold the best looking Gar i have ever seen was right there in front of me!!!It was only about an inch but boy was it pretty!!!It turned out to be an "Aligater Gar",I brought it home and put it in my 20 long, and within 10 minutes it had consumed 5 guppies, now i have read all the info about these bad boys,i know how big they can get,but my question is does anyone else own 1,how big do they get in aquarium??And does anyone have pics of thiers??Any more info is greatly appreciated!!Thanks!!!:naughty:

huge.... over 10 ft in wild. Though I have seen some 8 footers in aquariums. But i bet he was 10 yers old. Nice grab.... how much was he.

maybe a 5000 - 8000.....preferably a 10000k gallon would suffice for the gator gar full grown!!:)

If you are going to get a standard 220, I would give it 2-3 years in there before you are going to need a bigger setup. Do you have a pic of the gar and are you sure it is a gator gar?? I bought a gar thinking it was a gator gar, and it ended up being a Florida gar but I am really glad because I wouldn't be able to house a gator gar.

Pics! Lets see this fantastic fish!

Am going to a photo shop this weekend, hoping they can help me get my pics inter net ready. But after reading some of these posts,i kinda hope thr LFS is wrong again, hate to buy a fish and then get rid of it due to lack of tank space.

any pics yet??
