Impulse buy......well sorta.

well...she was asking for it IMO. flaring up at the GT as soon as I moved them into my 90. Was just the 2 of them and then she started getting brave.

Found her stuck in the powerhead when I came home from work :( Can only imagine how nice she'd be now. Surprisingly tho thats the only time the GT has become agressive beyond bluffing. All bark and no bite, well most of the time ;)

Good luck with Your Salvinis...I think you'll enjoy them

Males usually tend to stay around 7" but they can get up to 9". Females are obviously smaller around 6". Very good you have three females and one male you should have babies in no time. Although you might want to remove the other females or set a barrier so the other females don't get hammered and picked on.

This is a pair I kept in a 55 for a little while. They were both about 3". The male scaled and killed the female shortly after spawning. Cool fish while they lasted though.

headrush wow that was a beutiful sal for such a small size shame on the death of her

Thanks

Man i miss her every time I see those pics in my PC. Not even her as much as her potential. She could've been an amazing fish as an adult. I keep checking my LFS where I bought her but haven't seen one even close to her color

As far as min tank size I've read as big as 100 for a set pair but I don't buy that. They turn into real Ba*tards when they pair up too I guess. Never had a pair myself. I'd say 55-60 MINIMUM for a pair by themselves but I'd go bigger cause I'd see it as an excuse for a bigger tank :headbang2 as I'm sure our friends here would too

One more thing is that they hide a lot if they aren't near the top or at the top o' the pecking order, and they like planted tanks too.

i dont have a pecking order bar my biggest thorichthys ellioti but hes swimming all around, when do they get the yellow colour? mine has nice finage but isnt yellow yet i will post pic on seporate thread

They'll color up when they form a pair for sure. keep up with water changes and mix up their food and you should be good. 1 x week w/c works well for me.

If you can grow one to 3-4" I'd be interested in buying her if she's got good color. make sure you show pics down the road

PLEASE :D
