Well one day I was at a LFS, 'cause the daughter likes to go look at fish and a LFS is almost like a quick free trip to a local zoo, and they had these 10 gallon everything-you-need-except-fish-and-water kits on sale for $20.....

Bought Leopard Ctenopoma today, never seen them before.

i just bought a crab the other day with no knowledge about it. this morning my sister woke up to it on her leg... apparently they like to escape

i went to my lfs and they were giving away a full grown red ear slider turtle because her old owner gave her to the store and they couldent sell her because she is 15 years old. i have always wanted a small one of these but i thought wat the hell i give her a new home little did i realize at the time this thing makes poop like a rabbit in my water probably pees more than i do,i had to drop my water level to about 80% meaning i couldnt use my old hang on heater so i hat to buy a submersible one + a heat lamp ....i know im an idiot but after taking her home i couldent bring her back to the lfs.

Bought a 6-7" Green Terror yesterday :D

lol

great thread. my first few buys were all impulse buys. when my future wife and i moved in together i found an old 20gl in storage. i cleaned it out, went to petsmart and bought a filter, air pump and gravel.

after cycling the tank i went back and bought 4 mollys, a gt, jd and clown knife. all 2-4 inches. when i went online and started reading about what i had gotten myself into i then went out and invested in a 55gl. then i went out and bout a 110gl. then a 80gl, then a 46gl bowfront, then a 180gl and finally a 240gl. and all of the tanks were filled with different types of fw fish. at one point all of the tanks were set up in the "nice" room, you know, the room in the front of the house no one goes in? wife wasn't too pleased that what started off on a whim had turned into a full blown obsession.

but, like i always say to her, would you rather i go back to drinking and carousing or stick with fish keeping?

Not me but my dad bought two pacus, the guy at the store told him they could live in a 20 gallon cuz they only got 4".....they got to 10" in my 75 gallon and then my tank crashed........my dad has wanted pacus ever since:nilly: ..........

my first impulse buy was a baby oscar and it ate just about anything i gave it, and grew real fast real quick until it started to nip at the other fish in the tank and had to give it back to the shop. Was a sad day. If i ever have a really big tank, there def. will be an oscar in it. They are cool fish.
