I really wanna turn my my jag tank into a bichir tank but ive grown the jags since one inch (6-8in now) and kind of feel attached to them. I cant keep anything else with them because they kill everything. What to do what to do. Any body else have these predicaments

Yeah I wanted to turn my 55 gallon into a Fire mouth tank but I had to get rid of all the fish before it and it killed me lol Kept a 10 inch oscar though just because i've had him since he was like half an inch!

I think we all go through it at some point in this hobby. Reaching a point where you have to make the choice of something new youve always wanted and different vs the fish your attached to. I had to do that with my rose queen recently. :(

I stick them together and hope and pray it works. When it doesn't I get rid of my least favorite.

Get the new fish you want, its hard to get rid of the fish you have raised but you will soon forget them and will be enjoying the new stock! IMO for me this hobby is cycling through species even if its ones you love, this
Helps you find the true species that you love and will bring you back to! Good luck!

I would think birchirs are more flavor of the week type fish. Just my opinion obviously and yours could be completely different. They don't strike me as very active. Kind of like the rainbow wolf fish I was thinking of getting. Think hard before you pull the trigger. I personally would be happier with jags in the long run and wish I had room for one. Whatever makes you happy. I had to get rid of a flowerhorn recently as well as a salvini (that wasnt such a hard choice as he was being an ******* and I was trying to have a community lol) My girlfriend says "are you EVER going to be happy with your fish?" Really? i have only gotten rid of two! lol :)

Also an excellent point. It seems through this board I am always discovering a new fish I have never seen before and bam all of the sudden, fish fever. They are like pokemon... gotta catch em all. lol

I agree. And frankly Jags now are a dime a dozen. They are almost like the pet-smart Miidevls of the Parachromis world. You can certainly go back to them and get one to grow quick too.
