in case of an earthquake

Your missing the point.. you can have your tank in concert.. it doesnt matter.. what is that going to do if power is knocked out for hours, days or weeks.. Your fish are dead..

power is the least of your concern. if your house goes down on your fishtank not to mention you yourself, its game over. as for power there are cheap battery operaed aeriators but if you have the money then be my guest and buy a generaotr.

I thought about earthquake sometimes but I know most of my tanks is pretty stable do to being big and heavy with a wide foundation. Never really thought about electricity going out but after what happen in Haiti, I should consider something. The only problem I have is that I have too many tanks and to power up with a generator will be kind of hard do to the tank being so far apart. I should get some plan together just in case.. I do live in bay area, CA..

If the Bay Area does get 8.0 that shake for 3-5 mins... GAME THE F OVER. Everything and I MEAN everything is going to get flatten. All the bridges that connect the SF Bay Area are going to fail; none of them are designed for that magnitude. If will be Haiti 10x over if the quake last that long. My fish tank will serious be the last thing on my mind.

lol.. if a 8.0 hit, fish tanks will probably be the last thing I think about too.. Getting foods and shelter will probably be the top choice to do!!

in the Toronto area I'd not need to worry much...but inside my tank would be the safest in that event being 1" thick acrylic....but then again...in the event of a terrible earthquake...there will be other things to worry about then my prized fish...

If the Quake is big enough, and water shifts enough, the 400lbs. of water(50G) in your tank are gonna flip that tank.

I don't really see how one of those straps would work.
