Ben, Ben, Ben.....why did you have to show me that.... now I want to build one. Looks great, looks very simple to put together yet looks fantastic. You got my wheels spinning...
I agree, you made it look very easy. Thanks for the step by step pics. You didnt put any kind of cement to hold the blocks together? Do you use heaters?
Thanks guys and gals I didn't use any cement or mortar and I didn't off set the blocks either. When I first did it, I got comments about how I may have problems since they are just loose and I didn't off set the blocks for strength, but my Dad built it this way before and we didn't have any problems except for raccoons and the water pump going bad (that's why the first one was broken down). The pond lasted for years without any issues. And without mortar or cement, I can break it down if I ever decide that I didn't want it anymore or if I moved (which was the case). I didn't off set the blocks because while I was in the middle of the first re-build (decided to move location), it didn't seem that strong to me and as I leaned up against it, it gave way. Stacking it up like this, I didn't have that problem.
I have 5 Koi that will be going in there and my Dad wants to put his 7 Goldfish in there. It's going to be overstocked especially with the Goldfish in there, but I have another project lined up and that'll give me a chance to break down 2 tanks. I don't have a heater in there since it's going to be warm, but I might put a heater in there by late fall.
