In ground pond vs raised pond

What are the pros and cons to these and is one better or is it really only preference?


From browsing online it appears raised ponds are easier to make.

I am in Florida and am making a tropical backyard and want to add a nice pond. So if you have any creative ideas for my tropical pond idea please post them.

One idea of mind was a raised courtyard style pond with walkways all around it with one or more sides with acrylic for side viewing.

I think a raised pond works well for getting closer to your fish, also gaining more water volume. Here is mine it is about 3400 gallons it is raised about 20" above grade and is 5'-6" deep total.

Beautiful pond. Did you do the work yourself or have someone do it? May I ask the cost to get that up and running? I do like the tile look yours has, very elegant.
