Howdy,

I have two 250 Watt Jäger heaters in my 220 gal, and they've been great - no complaints on function. However, my pirayas are getting so big that they started to kick them around. I'm a canister man, thus, I have no sump to hide them in.

Does anybody have had good success with in-line heaters? What brand?

Thanks,
HarleyK

I am using one Hydor ETH 300W on my glass 220G tank. It is connected to the Eheim 2262 output hose. Keeps the tank at 78F with no problems. Average room temperature is 68F.

Harley I would suggest the same we all do for rays.Get some pvc and drill a million holes in it ~ it then protects the heater from being broken.

You can also buy the Lifegard Aquatics Heater module. It is similar in design to what dawnmarie has going on. Might be a bit easier if you are not quite the DIY kind of person.

Howdy,

Thanks guys. Great posts. I'm not worried about broken heaters but more about constantly having to put them back into their holders.

you could always put a rock or driftwood over part of them to try and hold them down or maybe use like 1900 suction cups or,as you said just get the inline heater
