They're worth having. I love having them around to set up new tanks in an emergency.

I got lots and lots of sponge filters mostly hydro V I got about 50 from DW a few months ago.
And plecos love to chew on them.He gave me a roll of gutter guard to roll around any that go in tanks with big plecs to keep them from eating them.

Ive been cycling 5 sponges at a time in my oscar tank as my fishroom expands.He took offence to the practice yesterday and started using them as tetherballs.:irked:

So I guess Ill have to figure out a different way to do that.

He might be playing with them. That is a good behavior if you want to train him to do tricks. See if he will push a ping pong ball around in the tank. Some tricks get messy (splashing) so you might want to keep that in mind if there is carpet on the floor.
