In search of Australoheros oblongum

Ahh I only have one... there are other people in my club that may have some for sale that are willing to ship if you want me to ask around. I live in northern va

I asked him a couple days ago if he did overnight shipping and he refused, stating that Priority was the most effective method of transportation. .....................................................
That is a drag. Shipping only saturdays is automatically 2 unnecessary days in transit. I understand it can work, but no way it's "the most effective method" for fish.
I want some cichlasoma dimerus :-(
Shippers won't refund for packages that arrive "as planned" and intact. it's unreasonable to expect that.

Really too bad because he is a good breeder, with very nice stock variety.

I don't think he intended for it to be just Saturday shipping. According to his "about me" section, a tree fell through his house last month, so it sounds like he use to ship almost anytime. He says he is currently living 10 miles away from his fish stock (in the basement, which was spared any damage), which is why he only ships on Saturdays. It seems a little fishy though (pardon the pun). I would hope he is not feeding his fish just once a week. And if not, I don't know why he couldn't ship on a normal day after stopping to feed in the morning. I know a work schedule can be challenging, but many other people find the time to do it with normal jobs. But I do understand his situation and the hassle that it creates.

I was impressed with his stock list. A lot of very uncommon and rare cichlids. I hope he gets his house fixed and shipping back to being more than just Saturday because I just won't risk it at the moment.

Overnight shipping would be very expensive for just one fish. :(

Please feel free to ask your club. I would love to get a set of oblongums from anyone willing to ship them to me for a fair price.

yes I also saw the info about house problems. no doubt the fish are being properly cared for, there's a big diff between doing that "whenever", and getting to special shipping locations during business hours,, especially in December.

My only concern is that he pulls pictures of fish from the Internet that are representative of his stock, but he never shows actual pictures. I have been burned by folks like that before (though not this particular guy). Another Aquabidder had some Westies for sale and I asked for pictures of his actual juveniles. He sent me a pic and the fish looked great, so I bought ten. The ones I got were NOT the fish pictured -- they had deformed pelvic fins and were severely runted/underfed. Since then I refuse to buy from anyone who doesn't show actual pairs or fish for sale.

Ryan, yeah but this guy does have good feedback though. that's what I looked at.

After my orders today from 2 diff vendors I may be eating pond chow myself. so not too worried about not getting the C dimerus from tiedyeman now :-/
can't wait till husband sees the credit charges.
:nilly:

I've had fish from him delivered without any problem at all. Great fish and great member on aquabid and his A. Oblongum are truly amazing hardy colorful cichlids. I always try to use next day "hold for pickup" rather it be USPS, UPS, or FedEx... TieDye Man has some great fish and communicates well. Everything I've gotten from him has been outstanding...
