Went through this for years so I went with 7 Geophagus Altrifons. Had seven adults in my 90 then one day they started playing peeking order and these supoosedly peaceful guys turned into brutes. I lost most with a bad bout of ick last winter. I now have 4 large red head tapajos in a 50 breeder with a few plecs and some larger barbs as dithers. This tank is totally peaceful so far and the red heads are gorgeous. I had a 11 inch V.Argentae in a 90 by himself a while back and it was just insane. Couldn't keep anything with him. Still miss the brutes like you have but not the violence. Good Luck and beutiful cichlids!
