i fourth discus

i had hoped african cichlids would be a recommendation, I have looked at many and they are nice looking. from the one post I take it that discus require more work? i have had cichlids in the past (oscars, demppseys, red devils, etc) guys thanks for your suggestions I am sure the africans will be great and my wife and 15 month old will love it

I see that you are from Ohio... are you going to the cincinati auction?

I agree with African Cichlids.

If you're not into that, how about omitting a heater and doing koi? Then you could decorate the room in a Japanese style and it would look like you planned it that way. (BTW, Japanese style decorating is cheap!)

i am not aware of an auction in cinci, when and where? it might be beneficial to at least look at the variety of fish

Tack on another for discus. Get yourself maybe 4-5, a nice sized school of cardinals, a pair of rams, and you've got yourself a really good looking tank.
