In your fish keeping experience how often has a "impulse fish buy" worked out?

I usually get them home and regret it a few hours later.

I usually got a good sense what fish will get a long. I've had fish not make it the first night. They either get killed or eaten by another fish..

Impulse buys are a mistake, I agree. Unless you've got the tank bandwidth and an ability to roll with the punches.

They've always worked out pretty well for me. My first endlicheri bichir was an impulse at 12" 2 years ago and I still have her today. Now she's about 16"

Mine have mostly worked out, my sh was an impulse buy and he's fantastic... the goldfish from the fair was also impulse... he wasn't so great, but it got me into fish keeping...
