Yeah thats a nice fish. African cichlids are so expensive I try not to even begin to become interested in them

***My hobby is like a flower on a plant. They make the plant look beautiful and feel Proud. ***

I also think flowerhorns are nice looking.

I haven't spent big bucks on mine. I got a male that looked like the one pictured at petsmart for probably 4 dollars in one of those "assorted cichlid" tanks. Same guy in the named tank next to it was 5 times the price. I got an albino female to go with him from a budget pet supply outlet in town. Total dump, disgusting store and filthy tanks.

Breeding pair was maybe 10 bucks and I've made probably 30 or 40 fry to adulthood (or atleast large enough to hang in the 75g with the big dogs) over the last 3 years. All of them look like the dad.

Believe it or not my most prolific breeding female I rescued from a walmart super center. She was just some random mutt in a bunch of assorted africans... but her and the aforementioned male have made dozens of offspring as well.

Heres some of my homegrown fry. I havent paid money for an African cichlid in over a year. You dont have to be an affluent eccentric fish keeper to enjoy them. Hell I dont even know their names, scientific or common. I leep them in a way that makes sense to me and it works, almost no agression isssues too. there seem to be alot of "snobs" and "designer cichlids". They are cool I get it. But average guys can bust em out too.
