Inbreeding in Jags and wild vs tank raised

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great looking pair....male has in my opinion a preferred type head profile......that's what seems be noticeable to me in wild caught males...

color wise female jags almost always look blotchy and bleached. I think the domesticated bloodlines have a nicer appearance due to the eye of man selectively breeding more stunning specimens.

Prior to spawning and fry tending female jags have a couple different patterns that color up and look impressive...
My female....

Interesting. I dont have enough experience with these fish -in the wild, to know one way or the other. The reason I associated the two was bc I saw a male from the same batch (as my female) and it also had lighter base ,,and a more coagulated black patterning --with fading to lighter brown above and below that central lateral line.

But I may be completely wrong. ;) Look at Oscars, they come in many shades naturally.

This is a wild pair from Honduras:

I love these guys. They attack when I rearranged the cave this morning.. but his digging had destabilized the whole thing and I was worried it would come down..
but I managed to keep him at bay and set it up securely.
