Alrighty then... i tried this in the general equipment forum and all they said was something along the lines of "errr, that was probably in the DIY forum" ... ...really...? useless quite honestly.

So, here i am i guess i'll ask the guys that KNOW what their doing :naughty:

My question is...

"Ok, so a while back i saw a thread where someone was building either a full tank, or just the filter (i cant remember) but at the filter outflow, they were using some sort of flow amplifiers like a venturi of some sort. Basically, using the coanda effect (like Dysons bladeless desk fan) to increase the flow.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?"

the search is on fellas ;)

don't get me wrong, i've looked for it, but just don't remember what it was called :(

Flow accelerator?

I remember it also. He added a baffle to his DIY tank and the overflow was built into the tank.Took water in at the top and discharged water at the bottom with a low volume pump with water amplifier. The tank had two view windows. He was eliminating the need for a large pump saving on electricity.

I looked and can't find it either. I made a pic from what I remember. The water pump pushes water through the amplifier and water at the opening of the amplifier gets sucked into the amplifier pushing more flow. Maybe this pic will jog some memories. He machined a piece of steel for a template then heated the black plastic pipe and pushed it on the template flaring out the ends like a funnel.

Yep that's the one... I wanted to get all the details from him. Hope we'll find it or the author in the near future.

Looks like Deeda knew what it was from the start. DRB has the links. :headbang2 1", 3/4", and 1/2" sizes nice. Those would work.

The guy that made his own had huge ones. They looked to be about 1 1/2" black pipe and about 6" long if I remember right. :)

Here's another option for serious flow rates--Hammerhead pump with 1 1/2" PVC and 1 1/2" Venturi returns.

We have a really swift current with 1" PVC and 1" Venturi nozzle in our 300 gallon tank. Here's old video during a water change. The swift current is not for every fish. Our big boys happen to love it.

Thanx guys!:headbang2 those all look amazing! thanx for the link to the Pacific Coast Flow Accelerator :)

is there a place in particular to buy these --vv
