INDIAN GIANT SNAKEHEAD (channa diplogramma) TANKMATES?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Koi sounds like a big meal to me. Pleco might work, My Channa Asiatica killed a common pleco who was 3 times bigger then her though so they can do it, She got him right at the back of the head and just thrashed him around. She's exceptionally aggressive though, she will fixate on a fish and not let up until it's dead big or small.. She attacks me any chance she get's even gives new pieces of decor like wood a good beating lol.

On the flip side I tried a Larger 12-14" common pleco in with a pair of auranti short term to clean the driftwood up, The snakeheads ignored it for the most part after establishing that they owned the caves. But it ended up developing a taste for meat , even would chase feeder fish , then one night the pleco took a big bite out of the side of my auranti so I removed him. A Large panaque would be less likely to develop a taste for meat.

Large endlies would probably be fine, big endlies are tough as nails and stick too the bottom 95% of the time so typically get along with even the most aggressive fish so long as they are not bottom dwellers. But do not mix bichirs with pleco's bichirs arnt active enough , pleco's will land on them then suck the slime coat clean killing the bichir.

Well silly you won't have to put a 6 inch gar with a 24" full grown indian giant snakehead wouldn't ya? :p
both has a fast and decent growth rate, it'll just goes by the character of the predators.Just like what I said, hit or miss, not everything applies on everyone in this hobby.

Obviously! :p
Just saying that they need to be same size.. (common sense)

Side note, when my stratia was still cute and tiny. It ate everything. Even fish that were same size as it..
When I bought it, it was a pack of 10(feeder) . I shared with a friend and he is left with one too. But here's the catch.. Mines 3x the size of his

And I'm using my Channa bleheri tank as a grow out for my black arowana :p
Tank mates are 2 fire eel and 2 reed fish, everything is bigger than the Snakehead..

No, what DC said is true and not uncommon. Some plecos have the nasty habit of sucking off the slime coat of fishes (which may be a few times their size) and resulting in death of the "victim" fish. When a pleco is seem sucking on the body of a fish, the sensible thing would be to separate the pleco from the "victim". Chinese Algae Eaters are also notorious for sucking slime coat and thus causing death.

It can cause by the poor diet of the pleco to look for other means of getting food, namely slime coat. But most of the plecos wouldn't bother to do that... Plecos must only be introduced to a aged establish tank... If not, well there you go, slime coat is in the menu.
It varies also, if you have a carnivorous pleco don't expect it to go completely vegan.
