Searcyb,

The Greater Chicago Cichlid Association is going strong. It meets along Route 53/IS 290 in the NW suburbs on a regular basis, and is holding a "fish swap" at the Arlington Heights Sheraton on 4/30. I recommend you check the web site www.gcca.net.

I just checked out the MWCA. Looks cool. I seen you floating around in there repair.

We had a planning meeting on Sunday the April 30th...........

Here are some of the ideas

MCA-Indy meetings will be on Sundays and will start sometime between 2 and 5

our first meeting will be June 17th and we are still deciding on the meeting place. We will get the decision made by the first of next week so we can get flyers made and put up in the local shops.

At each meeting a member will give a presentation on at least one fish that they own. They should provide what water conditions they keep them in what they are feeding, water change schedule ect. They should also include some info from the a book or the net as to what ideal conditions would be and if they have spawned them.

We were thinking of having the info available as a download from the MCA-Indy area of the website.

Each month we will tell the club about at least one interesting Cichlid or catfish website we have found.

We will have a question and answer time each meeting.

Since we should start seeing some inexperienced people we thought that we would offer a mentoring program where we would match new members with some of our more experienced members.

We have talked about having some work shops on tank set up and filtration. I was thinking about showing the members how to set up my drip system. We could have one on drilling tanks with and without a machine

We are working on finalizing our officers list and I'll post it the next couple of weeks.

This is just a few of the ideas that have been talked about and I'm sure that things will change as we grow.

We are open to other suggestions so feel free to get involved!

I live in Greenwood so you're close
