indo datnoids always turning black

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
one thing i noticed is that when my indos are being netted and transferred into a bucket for measuring and sometimes for water change they tend to have a stabilized state, this leads me to think that this seems to be their unstable or maybe stressed state? while other fish will get stressed when being netted and transferred, these guys have stable color. that's just my experience. in times when it's stressful, they have nice colors.

That's odd it's opposite for me.. Funny, I thought I was starting to have it figured out a bit. Back to observing I suppose, thanks for input from your experience. :)

thats why it takes a master fish keeper to keep the datnoids from turn dark or black what ever you call it just mean stress the hell out to me when I see one that is black lol

Dark tank = dark fish IMO. Unstable to me is when the bars are not visible, except for the odd blotch.

With indos, I think it depends on each fish. There is indo stable 100% all the time but this is very rare and hard to find.

well.. WE keep dats for their colors.. dats themselves probably adapt to whatever color they feel like having/is most useful at any given time.. that's my theory.. actually I think this stable/unstable is BS.. if you can't be happy with a dark dat just keep another fish.. I'm lucky with the colors on my dats but I'd keep dats even if they were constantly brown..
