My 180 houses 4 clown loaches, a royal pleco, an ornate and my black arowana. I was sifting through buy & sell and came upon someone selling 3-4 inch indo dats. Seeing as how my 180 feels awfully empty atm, I was thinking of buying 2 of the dats. My aro is about 8 inches and same goes for my ornate. My loaches are about 2-3 inches. The pleco is about 2 inches but it's almost always hiding. Would the dats work?

I say go for it! you could possibly have a problem with the heirarchy for a while but it should work after a while!

I say DON"T do IMO. That black arowana and ornate are gonna get to 12"+ easily. The indos on the other hand are gonna have a way much slower growth.

I'd say go for it. I have 2 3" indo dats with my 9" aro and an ornate, del, endli and they all get along fine

I put a 3" NGT in with a 20" RTG and a 17" endli bichir. NO problems. I put a 3" IT in with the same combo, and no problems whatsoever. The NGT is now about 7-8" and the IT is almost 10". I should say that there are 2 large pieces of d-wood in the tank and that may have helped, so I might suggest some cover for the tigers at some point.

dats would work in that combo...i have 4 IT dats that i got earlier this spring at 1" and they are now 4-5"+ easy...i have them with 1x 22" silver aro, 1x 13" silver aro, 1x 20" florida gar, 1x 20" clown knife, 1x 14" black ghost knife, 1x 14" endli, 1x 12" ornate, 3x 12" sen bichir...noo problems...the only time i have had a problem was when they were with a 8-10" orino pbass as it ate one...try it and good luck...as always with any new combo be ready to seperate if you need to...

no problem...i just reread the original post and i do recomend that you get 3 or more dats as they like to fight...good luck

I say go for it. Just keep a close eye on them the first few days. Dats are smart and know when to avoid aggressive fish.
