Indoor pond for arowana project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo

I think if you want this build to be a success you need to change "idk" into "I do know". The information about using uv filtration to kill parasites in aquaria isn't a top secret classified document, make yourself a coffee and get googling, and by the time you've finished the coffee you should have found out all about uv filtration.

You mentioned some sort of difference between a koi pond verses something else. May I suggest that kio are large messy fish so there homes have to be really well designed for convenience and functionality. A bottom drain with the entire bottom sloped toward the drain makes for ease of cleaning at the least. If your filter is tapped into the drain then it is doing the best job possible at all times. Then you y from the filter feed to a filtered floating skimmer and it all pumps into the main filter. It is all discharge back either to a planted area to eat nitrates and then run down a waterfall or another way to aerate.

As far as a UV. A UV kills what ever run through it as long as the bulb is less then a year old. It does not kill anything that does not run into it. UV lights can actually damage your water mineral balance. They should only be ran 8 hours and be appropriately sized for the actual flow going through it .

It does? My koi pond has uv built in my water parameters are good nothing went wrong I also have some plants in pond

Built in UV"s are appropriately sized. It is when one wants to put a really huge one in iike the thread says that it 'can' , like I mentioned, become a problem. There are many designs that work for ponds/tanks that work for people. The thread wanted ideas....
