Indoor Pond? Inflatable?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you know where I can get wholesale salt? Or at least cheaper salt? Because If im doing a 1,000+ gallon tank. I'm going to need a whole lot of salt.
Also could I just leave the tank filled up for a week. For the chlorine to vanish?

Would I also need a skimmer for a shark tank this big?

Easy on the bumps man, responses will come. Just figure out which salt company you plan on using, send them an email and see if they will sell to you in bulk if your purchase a large enough amount. As for a protien skimmer, it does not matter on the size of the system your going to need one. Keep doing research and asking questions, there is alot you will need to learn before you can jump into such a large build.

What good skimmer do you recommend on tank?

Well there are several pond choices for keeping sharks or rays.

1.) premade - poly, rubber or pvc ponds- which generally range from 6-10' Diameter
2.) Above ground swimming pools (with fish safe pvc liners)
3.) D.I.Y. ponds

D.I.Y. ponds can range for a simple pond (like a koi pond) to a pond with a viewing window. Simple DIY ponds are basically a solid wooden frame with heavy duty fish safe pond liners. The DIY Ponds with viewing windows are basically home made aquariums, made of wood, fiberglass/epoxy resin, and a glass/acrylic window.

Any pond for a shark needs to have a Protein Skimmer as part of the Filtration System. But the Skimmer should be able to handle at least 2 times the volume of the pond. In addition to a Protein Skimmer, a Shark Filtration system should include a Sand Filter, Refugieum(with macro Algea & mud(or Live sand), and/or a LR Sump.

Would a DIY skimmer be a bad idea for a tank this big?

Sharks dont do to well with tankmates such as tangs, angels, triggers, or puffers. Things i recommend are lookdowns, rays, and other sharks(just stuff that ownt pick on them as they like to lay on the bottom and rest.
